About
Photography, sound and the things that catch my eye
Alex Cristea is an Italian-born, Barcelona-based DJ, producer, and photographer whose creative work sits at the intersection of electronic music, visual culture and digital media.
Born in Avellino, near Naples, Italy, and raised in Munich, Germany, Alex grew up immersed in the city's electronic music and underground culture. While music shaped much of his early creative life, photography gradually became an equally important way of exploring the world around him.
At 20, Alex began releasing music on international labels. With more than 150 tracks to his name, his productions have been played by artists such as Chez Damier, Richie Hawtin and Traumer. He held residencies at Munich's Harry Klein and Rote Sonne clubs and co-founded Dots. Music in 2015, a platform for music releases and club showcases.
Photography as presence
Alex holds a Bachelor of Science in Media Informatics from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU Munich), where he developed a technical and creative foundation in digital media, audio and photography. For Alex, photography is a way of disconnecting from everyday distractions and reconnecting with the present moment. Just himself, the camera and the environment around him. His work explores people, places, nightlife, travel, architecture and fleeting details, capturing fragments of life as they unfold with a spontaneous, personal approach.
